Welcoming the P1-3 children back — 2020/21 GUPS News

It has been wonderful to have the school bursting with the sound and enthusiasm of the P1-3 children again and also to have the opportunity to see the P4-7 children and keep connected through our Google Meets. The joyful shouts seeing teachers and friends again yesterday was a delight!

Digital Club ~ Monday 18th November

Digital club will begin next week, on Monday 18th November. All P5-P7 pupils are welcome. It will run from 3.25pm – 4pm. This term we will look at coding projects using code.org. The final digital club of this term will be held on Monday 16th December.

Hùb Hàb, Roinneadh agus Bèicearachd/Drama, Division and Baking!

Tha sinn air a bhith trang bhon a thìll sinn as dèidh na saor-laithean. We have been busy since returning from summer break.  Primary 1’s are settling in well, we had a visit from the Gaelic Drama group, Hùb Hàb who performed a Road Safety play for us and we were delighted to be joined by Sgoil-àraich children.

We were also set a task to show division on our cakes which we baked. We showed what dividing by 3, 4 and 8 means by dividing our cakes into equal parts!

Aig a Mhòid/Mod 2019

Abair latha a bha againn aig a Mhòid Dihaoine sa chaidh.  Bha a chlann cho dòigheil agus abair gun do rinn iad math leis an òrain againn, ‘Birlinn Ghoraidh Chròbhain.’  Mòran taing do phàrantan a thàinig airson taic a thoirt dhan chloinn agus cuideachd do Mrs Haig airson cuideachadh le aodach agus ‘props.’

We had a great day at the Mod last Friday.  The children did us proud on stage as they sang our class song ‘Birlinn Ghoraidh Chròbhain.’  Also a huge well done to all who took part in individual competitons, they all did so well with very good marks all round.  Many thanks to parents who took the children along and supported them and also to Mrs Haig who helped us with our Viking costumes and props, complete with our very own NessieHIBK4017[1]!

Sgiathan agus Seall agus Inns/Shields and Show and Tell

Tha sinn air a bhith trang ag ullachadh airson a Mhòd – pheant sinn sgiathan – tha iad àlainn! Cuideachd rinn sinn Seall agus Innse le clann bho sgoil-àraich.

We are busy preparing for the Mod, and we have painted some lovely shields. We had a visit today from our Nursery children and we did Show and Tell, among them a Flamingo and a Ukelele!  We really enjoyed their visit.

A’cur, A’ Choille Uisge agus Ealain a-muigh. Planting, The Rainforest and Art outdoors.

Tha sinn air buntata a chur anns na drathairean again, tha sinn an dòchas gum fàs iad. Cuideachd tha sinn ag ionnsachadh mun choille-uisge an teirm seo, tha fios againn a-nis air na ceithir ìrean agus cho cudromach sa tha an ‘Amazon’ dhuinne.

An-diugh bha sinn ag ionnsachadh mu dhathan blàth agus fuar agus chaidh sinn dhan ghàrradh-chluiche airson dealbhan a dhèanamh. Tha sinn a’ smaoineachadh gu bheil sinn a’ coimhead gu math profeiseanta!

We have planted potatoes in our filing cabinet drawers, we hope they grow.

We are also learning about the Rainforest this term, we know the four layers of the Rainforest and how important the Amazon is for our lives.

Today we learnt about warm and cold colours in Art and we went outside and chose an object or scene from the playground to draw.  We think we look quite professional!
